Enterprises, Inc.
Wims Enterprises, Inc. (WEI) is an approved provider of
Supplemental Educational Services (SES) for Ohio districts that have
schools that have been identified as "in need of improvement" based
on the No Child Left Behind Act. WEI's SES are rated as "highly
effective" by the State of Ohio's Department of Education. For the
school year of 2006-2007, WEI will serve the following Ohio School
Districts: Akron, Canton, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, East
Cleveland, Lima, and Toledo.
WEI's Vision, Mission, and Values result in an attitude and
approach of continuous self-evaluation through a commitment to
excellence. Choosing not to wait for the Ohio Department of
Education's SES Effectiveness Report for the School Year 2005-2006,
WEI completed its own self-evaluation and sent it to its school
districts for review and feedback. WEI's President, David Wims, Esq.
believes that it is critical that its students and families see that
we "walk the walk." With a fervor honed in the courtroom, he
states, "We're not here just to ensure that no student is left behind
in school. We are here to ensure that our kids are not left behind in
life. We will model our value of Integrity by holding ourselves to a
standard far more stringent that the law or schools expect."
Using a sample of students during the 2005-2006 school year, WEI
obtained grade point information, attendance records, and discipline
data from its school districts to assess the effectiveness of WEI's
SES program by comparing students' first and final semesters' mean
grade point average ("g.p.a."), mean number of absences, mean number
of disciplinary incidents, and mean pre and post-test scores.
The key points of the evaluation are students':

statewide g.p.a. increased from 2.05 to 2.22

absenteeism fell from 3.44 days during the first quarter to 3.3
days the third quarter

discipline incidents remained relatively unchanged
-
average post-test score increased 20% compared to pre-test
scores
